Orphan Olivia has aged out of the foster care system. Uncertain about her future, she confronts her past by returning to the forest where someone abandoned her as an infant. But instead of answers, she finds herself drawn into the realm of the fairies.

And the fairy king declares she is meant to be his heir.

Challenged to a trial of magic by the other claimants to the title, she is struck by how familiar the world around her is. Things she considered to be only the dreams of a child who knew nothing about the world turn out to be very real. But she’s just an ordinary human orphan. She doesn’t even believe in magic.
